The Health Sciences Studio delivers complex, high-impact projects including hospitals, clinical facilities, and research environments. These projects require a high level of technical rigor, coordination, and an understanding of how design supports patient care, operational performance, and regulatory compliance.
The Role
As a Designer, you will translate design intent into clear, coordinated construction documentation. Working closely with the project team, you will develop technical solutions that respond to clinical requirements, regulatory standards, and project constraints.
This role is well suited for someone who is technically strong, detail-oriented, and experienced in the specialized requirements of healthcare design in Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine technical design solutions across all phases of a project
- Prepare and coordinate architectural drawings to meet quality, schedule, and budget requirements
- Apply healthcare planning and technical standards, including CSA Z8000, throughout the design and documentation process
- Support programming, code analysis, material and building systems research, and space planning
- Apply OBC Part 3 requirements in hospital settings, including fire separations, smoke compartments, and egress
- Support Ministry of Health review, approval, and permitting processes
- Conduct site reviews and assist with site surveys
- Review shop drawings and project documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Prepare permit submissions and coordinate revisions with consultants and authorities
- Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical and constructability issues
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of professional architectural experience
- Experience working across multiple project phases
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and related design software
- Strong knowledge of building systems, detailing, and applicable codes
- Familiarity with the application of CSA Z8000 in healthcare projects
- Experience with Ministry of Health review, approval, or permitting processes for healthcare projects in Ontario
- Strong working knowledge of OBC Part 3 requirements in hospital environments, including fire separations, smoke compartments, and egress
- Experience in healthcare or health sciences projects is required
- Degree in Architecture or related field
- Registered or working toward registration with a professional architectural association is an asset

Salary: $70,000 – $105,000 annually + bonus, RRSP match
