An established, employee-owned architecture and engineering firm is seeking an Architectural Designer to join its Public sector team.
The studio delivers a diverse range of civic and institutional work, from government buildings and heritage repositioning projects to cultural facilities and large-scale public infrastructure. These are complex, high-visibility projects that require strong technical execution and careful coordination across multiple stakeholders.
As an Architectural Designer, you will play a key role in translating design intent into coordinated, buildable construction documentation.
You will work closely with project teams to develop technical solutions that respond to context, budget, and regulatory requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of how buildings come together—balancing design ambition with technical precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine technical design solutions across all phases of a project
- Prepare and coordinate architectural drawings to meet quality, schedule, and budget requirements
- Contribute to programming, code analysis, and building systems research
- Participate in material selection and detailing strategies
- Conduct site reviews and document existing conditions
- Review shop drawings and coordinate revisions with consultants and contractors
- Prepare permit response documentation and support approvals
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and authorities to resolve technical and constructability issues
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of relevant project experience across multiple project phases
- Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and other architectural design software
- Solid understanding of building systems, including structural and MEP coordination
- Working knowledge of building codes and permitting processes
- Degree in Architecture or a related field
- Registration with a professional architectural association is an asset
- Ability to obtain security clearance
- Experience working on public sector or institutional projects is an asset
