An established interior design studio is seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to work closely with the Principal on high-end residential projects, with a primary focus on cottages.
This is a hands-on role for a designer who enjoys both the creative process and the work of getting a project built. You’ll guide projects from concept through completion, develop detailed drawing packages, manage budgets and schedules, and work closely with clients, architects, builders, and trades.
Each project is individually designed around the people who will live there. You’ll help create spaces that balance distinctive design with the comfort, durability, and practicality of cottage life.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with the Principal to develop and execute design concepts for luxury cottages and residential projects.
- Prepare comprehensive working drawings, including interior architectural details, custom millwork, kitchens, bathrooms, bespoke furniture, and lighting and electrical layouts.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, schedules, and client files from concept through completion.
- Coordinate with architects, builders, trades, consultants, and workrooms to carry the design intent through every stage.
- Attend regular site meetings, review progress, and resolve design and construction questions.
- Source and price materials and finishes, and prepare detailed specifications and schedules.
- Review the fabrication and installation of custom elements to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Lead client meetings and presentations, communicate progress clearly, and guide decisions to keep projects moving.
What You Bring
- At least 8years of relevant interior design experience, with a strong background in high-end residential projects.
- Experience delivering new construction and renovations from initial design through completion. Cottage or country-home experience is especially valuable.
- A degree or diploma in Interior Design. ARIDO registration, NCIDQ certification, or progress toward either is an asset.
- Strong AutoCAD skills and the ability to produce accurate, detailed construction drawing packages.
- Confidence in hand drafting, sketching, and rendering to communicate design ideas.
- Strong knowledge of custom millwork, cabinetry, materials, finishes, and construction detailing.
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, consultants, and client relationships.
- Familiarity with design management software such as Studio Designer
- The judgment and initiative to establish priorities, work independently, and follow through on details.
- Clear communication skills and a thoughtful, personable approach with clients and project partners.
- A valid driver’s licence and access to your own vehicle for site visits.

Salary: $80,000 – $100,000
