Job Description

Join our dynamic corporate interior design team, where innovation meets functionality. We’re an interior design-build firm on the hunt for a senior corporate interior designer who not only thrives in crafting outstanding designs but also excels at leading projects and engaging clients effectively throughout all stages.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead projects from conception to completion, ensuring a seamless transition through all stages.
  • Support business development by actively engaging in initial client interactions during the sales and preconstruction phases.
  • Develop comprehensive space plans and programming documents by gathering client requirements and translating them into actionable design concepts.
  • Prepare drawing sets for various project stages, including Issue for Permit, Tender, and Construction. Develop detailed architectural and millwork drawings.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with clients, ensuring their requirements are not only met but exceeded. Manage expectations and establish clear communication channels.
  • Effectively communicate with engineers, consultants, vendors, fabricators, and the pre-construction team to meet project objectives.
  • Lead engineer coordination meetings and review consultant drawings to ensure design alignment across all disciplines.
  • Ensure projects comply with building code requirements and are executed according to regulations, procedures, plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with sales and pre-construction to align construction costs with initial budget discussions. Identify and communicate potential project risks.
  •  Attend site visits and meetings, providing design support on RFIs, submittals, and overall site coordination.
  • Provide mentorship to intermediate and junior team members, fostering a collective team approach to project development and success.

Requirements:

  • 8-10+ years of hands-on experience in commercial interior design, with a strong focus on workplace design.
  • ARIDO / NCIDQ or working towards them is considered an added asset.
  •  Proficient in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Vray, Enscape, Indesign, and Photoshop. Knowledge of Revit is an additional asset.
  • Strong graphic layout and visual skills to effectively communicate design ideas.
  • Outstanding written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel to clients’ sites in the GTA. Occasional out of province travel within Canada.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to establish priorities, work independently, and actively engage with the team.
