The Transportation Studio delivers aviation, transit, and multimodal hub projects for public and private sector operators, with a focus on efficient, sustainable, and future-ready transportation infrastructure.

Project experience may include terminal buildings, station buildings, parking structures, aircraft hangars, baggage handling systems, and transit or multimodal hubs.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Job Captain to take on a key technical role within a collaborative project team. You will help translate design intent into clear, coordinated construction documentation and support the delivery of complex transportation projects through all phases.

The Role

As a Job Captain, you will apply your technical knowledge of detailing, materials, building systems, and construction methodology to develop practical, well-coordinated design solutions. You will work closely with architects, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure documents are accurate, buildable, and aligned with project goals.

This role is well suited to someone who is technically strong, detail-oriented, and confident managing documentation and coordination on complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate technical design solutions and construction documents across all project phases
  • Translate design intent into clear, accurate, and efficient drawing packages
  • Edit and review architectural drawings to maintain quality, schedule, and budget requirements
  • Conduct code research, material research, and building systems analysis
  • Assist with programming, space planning, and area calculations
  • Evaluate site conditions and carry out site reviews and surveys
  • Review shop drawings, consultant information, and project documentation
  • Prepare permit response letters and coordinate revisions required for approvals
  • Coordinate with engineers, consultants, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Help resolve constructability issues and respond to owner or site concerns during project delivery

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of architectural project experience
  • Experience across all phases of the project lifecycle
  • Strong technical understanding of building detailing, materials, codes, and construction documentation
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and other standard architectural software
  • Familiarity with MEP and structural systems coordination
  • Postsecondary education in architecture or a related discipline
  • OAA registration is considered an asset

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working on transportation projects
  • Aviation and rail transit project experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with airport authorities, TTC, Metrolinx, or similar public agencies is an asset

Compensation

$90,000–$125,000 annually
