Architectural Technologist – Institutional

Viewed 0 times

Job Description

You’ve spent the past few years building your technical expertise and contributing to institutional projects. Now, you’re ready to take on work that’s more impactful, projects that represent governments, cultural institutions, and communities.

We’re looking for a Technical Designer/Architectural Technologist to join our Public Buildings studio, a team known for delivering projects of national and civic importance. From embassies and government campuses to museums and cultural landmarks, you’ll help bring ideas to life that go far beyond individual buildings, they shape how people experience public spaces.

Here, you’ll find the best of both worlds: the stability of a global, employee-owned firm with 85+ years of experience, and the flexibility to choose where you work best, at the office, at home, or fully remote.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of the design process:

  • Translate design intent into precise technical drawings and construction documents.

  • Research codes, materials, and building systems to ensure solutions are both efficient and innovative.

  • Support programming and space planning by laying out program components and calculating areas.

  • Conduct site surveys and review shop drawings.

  • Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and contractors to resolve constructability issues and client concerns.

  • Contribute across all project phases, from early design through to execution.

What You Bring

  • 7-10 years of architectural project experience, ideally with exposure to public or institutional buildings.

  • A strong understanding of design and technical coordination through multiple project phases.

  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and other architectural software.

  • Familiarity with MEP and structural systems, building codes, and construction technologies.

  • Post-secondary education in architecture.

  • Eligibility for, or possession of, Government of Canada Secret Security Clearance.

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Impactful Projects: Work on civic and cultural buildings that serve communities and governments for generations.

  • Flexibility: Choose how and where you work—office, home, or remote—while staying connected through collaborative design platforms.

  • Growth: Learn from senior architects and engineers on high-profile projects while developing your own technical and design voice.

  • Collaboration: Be part of a multi-disciplinary, employee-owned practice where your contributions matter.

This is the right role if you’re a technically strong, detail-oriented designer who’s ready to see your work make a visible difference in communities across Canada and beyond.
