We are seeking a Studio Lead / Licensed  Architect to take on a key leadership role within our practice. With a strong foundation in residential development, our studio is recognized for delivering well-planned, well-executed communities that balance design quality, technical precision, and market success.

This position offers the opportunity to take on a visible leadership role,  overseeing projects, engaging with clients and developers, and shaping the growth of the practice. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of architectural experience with a focus on mid and low-rise residential development, along with proven ability in business development, client relations, and team mentorship.”

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide senior-level guidance in design, project execution, and studio operations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to refine business strategy, improve processes, and support sustainable growth.
  • Represent the studio in the marketplace, enhancing visibility and reputation.

Business Development

  • Develop and secure new opportunities, with a focus on building long-term relationships with developers and industry partners.
  • Lead proposals, presentations, and client negotiations.
  • Strengthen repeat business through exceptional service and delivery.

Project Leadership

  • Oversee all phases of residential development projects, from schematic design through approvals and construction.
  • Ensure compliance with the Alberta Building Code and municipal planning requirements.
  • Manage consultant coordination and approvals to achieve timely, high-quality outcomes.
  • Balance hands-on involvement with effective delegation and oversight.

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior and intermediate staff.
  • Foster a studio culture that values accountability, collaboration, and learning.
  • Encourage innovation and professional growth across the team.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Architect AAA
  • 10+ years of professional experience, with a strong emphasis on residential development projects.
  • Proven record of business development and client relationship management.
  • Strong technical expertise, particularly with the ABC  and municipal approvals.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams on complex residential projects.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a professional presence.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to balance design, business, and client service.
