Join this fast-growing, integrated Design-Build firm specializing in the refurbishment of high-rise condominium common areas throughout the GTA. Our collaborative approach ensures that every team member has a voice in shaping the final design. 

We are seeking an Senior Interior Designer/Team Lead with strong leadership skills and experience in high-rise condominium refurbishment. This role offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team, manage projects from concept to completion, and liaise directly with condominium boards and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a balance of creative design ability and practical construction knowledge, along with excellent communication skills to present ideas and work collaboratively with clients and trades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Concept Development – Create innovative, functional design concepts tailored to the refurbishment of high-rise condominium common areas.
  • Client Communication & Presentations – Conduct presentations to condominium boards (occasionally during evening meetings), answer questions, and guide clients through the design process.
  • Project Management – Oversee the full life cycle of design projects, from resource allocation and budgeting to quality control and on-site supervision.
  • Collaboration & Coordination – Work closely with the business development partner, clients, contractors, and trades to ensure design concepts are seamlessly integrated into the construction process.
  • Site Walkthroughs – Perform site walkthrough with the team and business development partner, asking critical questions to ensure all design elements align with the client’s vision.
  • Material Selection – Specify materials, furniture, and finishes that are suitable for high-rise refurbishment projects, considering durability, aesthetics, and code compliance.
  • Schedule Management – Ensure projects stay on track by overseeing timelines, adjusting schedules as needed, and ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • A professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years experience with high-rise condominium projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to manage a design team and present confidently to clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience in construction or general contracting is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit optional).
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulations specific to high-rise buildings.
  • Ability to create and review scope of work documents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present in front of condo boards and work closely with a diverse team of professionals.
  • Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
