Intermediate Interior Designer – Residential

Viewed 0 times

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and technically strong Intermediate Interior Designer to join our small but growing studio — a practice known for crafting contemporary, thoughtful, and highly detailed residential spaces. Our portfolio includes custom homes, cottages, and select boutique commercial interiors, offering a mix of creativity and precision in every project.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of your work, contribute to all phases of design and documentation, and grow alongside a Principal who values collaboration, initiative, and technical excellence.

About the Role

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both the design and production sides of a project. You’ll work closely with the Principal to develop design concepts, produce detailed drawings, and coordinate with consultants and contractors to bring ideas to life.

You should be confident producing complete drawing packages, comfortable navigating residential detailing, and passionate about creating spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful.

What You’ll Do

  • Support and lead residential projects through all phases — from concept and sourcing to technical documentation and construction administration.

  • Develop detailed millwork drawings, material boards, and specifications.

  • Produce permit and tender sets with precision and consistency.

  • Coordinate with consultants, suppliers, and contractors to ensure design intent is carried through.

  • Participate in site visits and review shop drawings.

  • Contribute ideas, solve problems, and continuously improve our design process.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in interior design, with a strong focus on residential projects (custom homes or cottages preferred).

  • Strong technical drawing and detailing skills – ability to produce coordinated, buildable documentation.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Solid understanding of materials, finishes, and construction methods.

  • Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.

  • A collaborative mindset and positive attitude — no egos here, just good work.

Why Join Us

  • Be part of a small, design-driven team where your ideas and contributions truly matter.

  • Exposure to every stage of the design process, with hands-on mentorship from the Principal.

  • Opportunity to grow into a senior or project lead role as the firm expands.

  • A supportive culture, and room to make your mark.
