RAIC: The Role of the Architect in Contract Administration
The role of the architect in contract administration is clearly outlined in the Canadian Handbook of Practice for Architects. However, there is a conflict of interest that most architects and construction lawyers have been aware of for many years, that arises as a result of the design professional acting both as designer and contract administrator on a construction project. This session will attempt to demystify some of the misconceptions around the complexity of contract administration and its many moving parts. Construction lawyers Colin Piercey, Collin Hirschfeld, and Marc MacEwing will share some of the most common mistakes you should avoid making, moderated by Andrea Lee.

The challenge is to come up with solutions that are practical and feasible; and they must honour every person’s human dignity—their fundamental human right to adequate housing.
