Studio Manager – Transportation

Viewed 0 times

Job Description

You’ve built your career delivering complex projects and becoming the person your team turns to for guidance. You enjoy solving technical challenges, developing people, and building client relationships. Now you’re ready for a broader leadership role, with a say in how a studio operates and where it grows.

An established, International architecture and engineering firm is looking for a Studio Manager to lead its Transportation team, delivering aviation, transit, and multimodal hub projects for public and private clients.

Your Opportunity

You will take responsibility for the studio’s people, project performance, client service, and financial success.

That means making decisions about staffing and resources, supporting project managers, mentoring emerging leaders, and helping shape the studio’s business plan. You’ll remain connected to project work, providing technical direction and getting involved where your expertise adds value.

This role suits someone who sees the connection between a well-supported team, strong project delivery, and a healthy business, and wants responsibility for all three.

What You’ll Lead

  • Manage workloads, mentor architectural staff, support career progression, and plan for future leadership needs.
  • Oversee schedules, budgets, resources, and deliverables across the studio. Help project managers identify risks and resolve issues.
  • Review work and guide the team on design, building systems, codes, and construction methods.
  • Maintain strong relationships, monitor service, and support business development, proposals, and presentations.
  • Develop the annual operating plan, contribute to budgets and revenue forecasts, and adjust resources as priorities change.
  • Lead performance, salary, and bonus reviews, recommend promotions, and ensure firm standards and safety requirements are followed.

Who We’re Looking For

You are an experienced architectural leader who is comfortable moving between a project review, a staffing discussion, and a client meeting.

You know how to give people direction while helping them develop their own judgment. You can address a technical issue, have a clear conversation about performance, and make decisions that balance project needs with the studio’s resources.

Your background includes:

  • Related post-secondary education in architecture, engineering, or a relevant discipline.
  • 10+ years in supervisory or leadership roles, including managing architectural staff.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of architectural or engineering systems and design.
  • Strong knowledge of architectural design, building codes, and permit requirements.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and structural building systems.
  • Experience overseeing project budgets, schedules, staffing, and delivery.
  • OAA registration is an asset.

Why Consider It?

This is an opportunity to build on your project leadership experience and take ownership of a studio’s success. You’ll have room to develop your team, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the direction of the business.

Salary: $120,000–$170,000, based on experience
