Job Description

As a Senior Architectural Designer within the Transportation Studio, you’ll lead front-end design efforts on complex transportation projects, setting design direction, aligning stakeholders, and guiding the team from concept through delivery. You’ll be supported by production staff and work closely with architects, engineers, and consultants to create thoughtful, technically sound solutions that hold up under real-world constraints.
Project experience could include terminal buildings, parking garages, and aircraft hangars, as well as broader aviation and transit facilities.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead early-phase design thinking including concept development, design strategy, and key project decisions
•Analyze site data, reports, and documentation to define requirements and constraints
•Develop architectural design solutions that balance context, budget, client goals, and technical complexity
•Coordinate design intent across disciplines, including structural and MEP teams
•Integrate engineering inputs and regulatory requirements into design and documentation
•Direct and review design reports, drawings, and 3D models to ensure quality and consistency with firm standards
•Participate in site visits and field reviews to verify progress and resolve issues quickly
•Review shop drawings and contractor submittals to protect design intent and uphold quality standards
•Help strengthen the studio improving standards, workflow, and how the team delivers work
What You Bring
•OAA Licensed Architect (required)
•10-15 years of architectural experience, ideally within transportation, aviation, or infrastructure environments
•Strong portfolio with relevant project types such as terminal buildings, parking garages, and aircraft hangars
•Experience across all project phases, with strength in front-end design leadership
•Solid understanding of building codes, MEP and structural systems, and technically complex facilities
•Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, and related tools
•Post-secondary education in Architecture or a related field
•Experience with public agencies such as TTC, Metrolinx, Airport Authorities, or similar is a strong asset
