Job Description

You know how to turn design intent into a coordinated, buildable set of documents. You spot technical issues early, work through complex details, and keep architects, consultants, and contractors moving in the same direction.

An established architecture and design firm in downtown Toronto is seeking an experienced Job Captain to support the delivery of institutional projects in Ontario.

The firm brings together expertise in architecture, construction, graphic design, digital media, and signage. Its work focuses on projects with a meaningful public impact, with an emphasis on inclusive, accessible, and healthy environments.

The Opportunity

Working closely with Project Managers, designers, and consultants, you’ll take a central role in technical coordination and document production. You’ll help carry projects through design, construction documentation, and construction, resolving challenges while maintaining quality and design intent.

This role suits someone with strong Ontario project experience, a thorough understanding of the Ontario Building Code, and the confidence to navigate complex client and consultant teams. Experience delivering large, fast-tracked projects would be a strong asset.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate architectural drawings and documentation with the design, production, and consultant teams.
  • Develop and review technical details for code compliance, constructability, and coordination.
  • Review contract documents and support the Project Manager throughout design and production.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between architectural and consultant documents.
  • Work with clients, consultants, and contractors to address technical and site issues.
  • Support the Project Manager during contract administration, including periodic construction site visits.

What You Bring

  • A degree in architecture, architectural science, or architectural technology.
  • 10+ years of professional experience including experience in a Job Captain role.
  • Experience delivering institutional projects, including large projects in Ontario.
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, applicable standards, construction detailing, and building science.
  • Strong technical proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders, from contractors to clients.
  • An aptitude for design, practical problem solving, and collaborative project delivery.
  • OAA membership or eligibility, Adobe Creative Suite proficiency, and fast-track project experience are assets.

Salary: $85,000–$110,000, depending on experience.
