Senior Project Architect – Interiors (Toronto)

Our client is seeking a Senior Project Architect to join the Toronto office of an international Architecture and Interior design firm. The Senior Project Architect is responsible for leading all design phases for interior projects, primarily in project administration, design development and contract documentation, leading the production team and will have extensive client interaction.

As Senior Project Architect, you will ensure technical adherence to office and firm-wide standards by providing technical solutions for design dilemmas. You will direct the staff to complete contract documents (CDs) and review CDs to ensure compliance with firm standards, mechanical, building systems, codes and ADA requirements. 

You will manage and monitor larger projects through the contract administration phase and coordinate the engineering consultant’s work to ensure compliance with design solutions and timely submission of documents. Occasionally, you may be required to assist with support for field surveys.

You will oversee tasks and provide feedback on work product and organize client interviews to determine technical requirements for the design. Your project management skills will be applied for setting up the contract administration budget and will inform the PM and/or client of any potential variances to the budget.

The ideal candidate should be a graduate of an accredited architecture or design school (equivalent experience may be substituted). You should have 8+ years experience working in corporate interior design projects and have an OAA license. In terms of technical skills, you should have extensive knowledge of design principles and standards, advanced documentation and field observational skills, expert interior detailing skills, CDs and procedures, and knowledge of building systems, codes, and ADA requirements. Along with advanced knowledge in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Affinity Program and Microsoft Office Suite skills are essential.
