Project Manager – Hospitality Interiors (Toronto)

Highly skilled, experienced Project Manager within the Interior Design field needed.

This position is best suited for a process oriented individual with highly developed organizational skills and a passion for client satisfaction.

Working with the design team our Project Manager is the primary point-of-contact interfacing with the client’s Project Manager, various stakeholders within the client group, and multiple sub-consultants and suppliers. Occasional coordination between internal departments is also required.

Ideal candidates should have a minimum of 10 years experience in the Interior Design industry, an in depth understanding of the design process and solid project management experience in hospitality design projects. An educational background in Project Management training and/or course certificates is also required.

Responsibilities:

  • Acquisition of all information required to initiate projects or write proposals, including client’s design briefs, research results, data documentation, specific information appropriate to the client’s specifications, timing and budgetary information, etc.
  • Communication of all relevant information to design team, including allocated time to work on each phase of the project, actions needed and production details.
  • Provide direct contact and liaison between the client, suppliers and the firm’s design and production teams as required.
  • Monitoring of budget and weekly updating of the client and department managers as required and appropriate
  • Invoicing and approvals of estimates and proposals on a timely basis.
  • Ensuring all administrative project management correspondence and record keeping is maintained and kept current.

Experience:

  • Ten plus years of industry experience, including project management responsibilities on a range of  interiors projects
  • Expertise in project delivery of the entire project lifecycle; start-up through post-occupancy
  • Demonstrated success leading, managing and mentoring multiple project teams
  • Experience negotiating project scope and fees
  • Proven fiscal accountability and responsibility on projects
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills
  • Proven ability to nurture, maintain and develop client  and internal relationships
  • Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design required

  • Ability to represent the firm and the design industry in a professional manner.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of employees within the firm in a motivational manner.
  • Flexible approach to projects, when required, without compromising quality expectations.
  • High work ethic and process drive
  • Sensitivity to the needs of clients in addition to the impact of their needs on the firm (i.e., timing, budget issues).
  • Enthusiasm and high energy level
