Project Architect – Institutional and Residential (Toronto)

A Toronto-based architectural and design firm is seeking an ambitious Architect to collaborate with the firm’s clients and partners and participate in the development and implementation of local and national marketing projects.

This firm has an outstanding portfolio that has focused on educational, recreational and heritage projects. Most recently, they have specialized on affordable housing projects and are experts in Passive House Design.

About The Architect Position

The Architect will perform all phases of architectural work including planning, designing and overseeing construction. You will be involved in new building designs, extensions, alterations, and restorations from the earliest stages right through to completion. The goal is to match the client’s needs and to produce sustainable, functional and aesthetically pleasing designs.

Your main role will be as the Project Manager who successfully oversees multiple building projects. You will coordinate projects from start to finish to ensure high quality, innovative and functional design. As well as, act as the main liaison between clients by identifying and developing their project goals by putting together brief reports and design proposals.  

Day-to-day duties include supervising and coordinating construction projects. You will also monitor and inspect work done by the architectural team.  As well as, be involved in all phases of project development; Schematic Design, Design Development, Working Drawings (including specifications) and Contract Administration.

Weekly duties include: Preparing manual and Revit working drawings, specifications, cost estimates, contract and bidding documents, and listings of quantities of material from conceptual drawings and instructions. And carrying out the completion of a project from design development, permit/tender documentation to construction administration. Familiarity with analyzing building codes, by-laws, space requirements, site requirements and other technical documents and reports is essential.

This is a unique opportunity for an architect with a Bachelor of Architecture University Degree with 10 years experience in Multi-residential, Community buildings, Education (schools and post-secondary) projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit 2019 is a must.
