Licensed Architect (Toronto)

About The firm

We believe that our team is why our firm is successful. We put a lot of effort into building a group of design professionals that share our like-minded goals in providing exceptional service to clients, embody true expertise and spirit in the practice of our craft, and support one another in a collaborative effort towards advancing great projects. Great projects don’t just happen. We chase and recruit them, they take diligence and effort, risk, serious hard work and a convergence of creative collaboration among disciplines. These are fundamental notions we believe in as a collective team of dedicated professionals that we’d like you to join us in engaging in your new role.

We are a passionate and energetic partnership of professionals. Although we’re new in Toronto, we’ve been in continuous practice in western Canada for many years. Our firm has grown to 60 staff, and includes a wide scope of architectural design services, particularly in post-secondary education, sports and wellness, transit, airports, affordable housing and multifamily residential buildings. This growth is founded on a studio culture of collaboration and integration. This allows the firm to be nimble and responsive to client expectations and our work. This is a design studio where we work together in teams. As such, we expect team members to be able to rely on each other and to be constantly open to change as we improve how we perform our work.

While our new Toronto office may start  small, it will be mighty with the strength of our western team of talented staff to support a new venture.

 About the Opportunity

We may be a new name in Toronto but we are backed by our Albertan studios with strong talent, expertise, strength and business resilience. We truly operate as one entity when it comes down to our project work and build project teams with talent in mind first – not geography. We are looking for like-minded individuals who, along with being talented architects, have a sense of entrepreneurial spirit to join us in the early days to help build our new network of infrastructure in Ontario: physically organizing our studio space, retaining new clients, helping us understand the market, recruiting new staff, marketing and business development and in general, setting up a strong presence in a new location. This is an opportunity to help grow something new, starting from the ground up. We emphasize the opportunity to grow with us and continue extending your career into more client work, responsibility and business development. Further, joining us in our early days will give you insight into business development and the operations side of our practice.

We’re looking for you to take on the responsibility for directing and supervising aspects of architectural design services on multi-discipline building design projects of varying scale and scope. We want you to inspire design creativity, solve design challenges with imaginative and resourceful solutions, provide strategic direction in advancing design culture, and play a significant role in project pursuits to include planning the design approach and developing design concepts for projects. These initiatives would be followed by coordination and oversight of preparation of detailed design drawings and demonstrating leadership and problem solving through to construction and closeout.

Bringing your design talents and organizational skills to bear on their assigned projects, you’ll coordinate our team to perform all aspects of architectural design including conceptual studies, programming, schematic documents, design development documents, and construction. You will be involved in new building designs, extensions and renovations from conception through to completion. The goal is to creatively meet client’s needs and solve design challenges through the production of sustainable, functional designs that bear architectural interest and allure. We want you to develop strong professional and personal relationships with our internal team, our clients, contractors, and consultants to foster repeat business. Internally, we’d ask you to participate in corporate activities to improve the design quality of our projects and the processes and procedures used during the design, documentation, and construction administration activities of a project, as well as mentor up and coming architects to improve their technical expertise, inspire their design creativity and develop their business skills.
