Job Description

We design environments inspired by a love of city-building and contemporary urban culture. From meticulously crafted interiors to large-scale urban redevelopments (and everything in between), our work focuses on attention to detail, material expression, provocative programs, and thorough engagement with local contexts.

Founded in 1995, we are a mid-sized firm based in downtown Toronto, built on the principle that diversity enriches our work, culture, and the creative environments we shape. We are growing and looking to hire talented architects, intern architects, and designers to join our dynamic team.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • Creative Diversity: Dive into a diverse portfolio that includes small-scale interiors and large urban developments, allowing you to challenge and grow your creative and technical skills.
  • Collaborative Culture: Enjoy a vibrant work environment that values collaboration and offers the perfect blend of teamwork and autonomy.
  • Professional Growth: Take advantage of opportunities for professional development within a firm known for its excellence and commitment to innovation.
  • Impactful Work: Contribute to projects that make a tangible difference in urban living and community spaces.
  • Inclusive Environment: Join a team that celebrates diversity and believes in the richness that different perspectives bring to the creative process.

As an Associate, you will be second in command to the Principals, contributing to the vision, advocacy, and promotion of the firm. You will oversee and be accountable for all projects, people, and clients within your practice area, ensuring timely, high-quality project delivery and continuous improvement in the firm’s production and client service. You will help shape the design vision and lead the achievement of strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

In project management, you will keep projects moving from concept through completion, ensuring deadlines and firm expectations are met. You will manage staffing and resource allocation, structuring and scheduling teams appropriately. Additionally, you will maintain strong client relationships and manage expectations to support firm priorities.

In design, you will lead the conception and development of project designs that meet our standards throughout all phases. You will ensure that projects meet our standards for design excellence and take final accountability for their delivery.

Regarding technical and quality assurance, you will oversee projects to ensure they meet the highest technical quality standards and regulatory requirements.

For leadership and people management, you will build the firm’s culture by developing team members, especially Team Leaders and senior staff. You will act as an ambassador of the firm through participation in industry initiatives, set objectives and expectations for teams, and direct individual accomplishments towards firm goals.

Administratively, you will monitor project hours, ensuring accurate and completed staff timesheets. You will lead fee management, focusing on maximizing project profitability and initiating corrective actions when necessary. You will also provide guidance on project proposal creation and development, and lead team meetings to coordinate deliverables, discuss best practices, celebrate achievements, and provide support as needed.

About you:

You thrive in a vibrant urban environment and are passionate about city-building. You enjoy working on a variety of projects that challenge and stimulate your creative and technical skills. You value a dynamic work setting that offers a blend of collaboration and autonomy. You are motivated by professional growth and are looking for a long-term career move. You believe in the richness that diversity brings to the creative process and are excited to be part of an inclusive team. You are eager to take on significant responsibilities and make meaningful contributions to a firm known for its excellence.

We are an equal opportunity employer. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds to join us and believe that our differences help us rise to the challenges of tomorrow. If you are passionate about design and excited to be part of a diverse and dynamic team, we would love to hear from you.
